San José, CA | May 15, 2025 – Mobilint, a K-ASIC portfolio company and emerging leader in on-device AI semiconductors, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with San José State University (SJSU) to provide technical support and AI acceleration hardware for university-led research and education in applied artificial intelligence.

The collaboration was made possible through the support of the Korea AI & System IC Innovation Center (K-ASIC), which continues to foster cross-border engagement between the Korean fabless ecosystem and U.S. academic institutions. The MOU signing ceremony and subsequent networking reception marked a new milestone in linking industry innovation with next-generation talent development.

Mobilint's AI Accelerator to Power Academic Research at SJSU

As part of the agreement, Mobilint will provide MLA100 PCIe Cards—its proprietary high-performance, low-power AI accelerator modules—to be deployed in research projects led by Professor Taehee Jung, a newly appointed faculty member in SJSU’s Department of Applied Data Science.

Professor Jung, who brings industry experience from global semiconductor companies such as AMD, will lead research initiatives using Mobilint’s hardware to explore real-world applications in edge AI computing, including real-time inference and lightweight model deployment.

The collaboration also includes co-development of course materials, research projects, and student theses, offering students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge Korean AI semiconductor technology.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone for academia–industry collaboration,” said Professor Jung. “Mobilint gains a valuable opportunity to introduce its AI hardware to one of Silicon Valley’s most diverse student bodies, while our students benefit from direct experience with edge AI tools used in the field.”

A Strategic Step in Mobilint’s U.S. Market Entry

Mobilint’s CEO Dongjoo Shin noted that the agreement was initiated after SJSU reviewed and evaluated Mobilint’s AI chip solutions at a recent trade show.

“This MOU is more than a research collaboration—it signals Mobilint’s official entry into the U.S. market,” Shin said. “Through this partnership, we aim to expand our ecosystem, build customer trust, and demonstrate the practical advantages of our AI semiconductor technologies in the world’s most competitive tech environment.”

K-ASIC: Bridging Innovation Between Korea and the U.S.

K-ASIC played a key role in facilitating this agreement, reflecting its mission to connect Korea’s fabless semiconductor innovators with global partners in research, industry, and investment. At the MOU ceremony, K-ASIC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the AI semiconductor ecosystem between Korea and the United States, not only through product deployment but also through talent and curriculum development.

“This MOU exemplifies how K-ASIC is building bridges between Korean startups and global institutions,” said a K-ASIC spokesperson. “We are proud to support this initiative and will continue to promote opportunities where Korean technology can shape the future of AI at the global level.”
