San Jose, CA | November 12, 2025 — The Korea AI & System IC Innovation Center (K-ASIC), in collaboration with the Silicon Valley Privacy-Preserving AI Forum (K-PAI), successfully co-hosted the “AI Silicon Race: Korea–U.S. Innovation Leadership” forum in Silicon Valley. The event convened over 100 participants from across the AI semiconductor ecosystem, including researchers, startup founders, corporate leaders, investors, and policymakers.

The forum served as a strategic platform to examine next-generation AI chip architectures and to strengthen cross-border collaboration between Korea and the United States in an increasingly competitive global semiconductor landscape.

Forum Highlights: Emerging Architectures Shaping the AI Era

The program spotlighted three key technological paradigms expected to define the future of AI semiconductor innovation:

  • Physical AI – Naehyuck (Nathan) Chang introduced the concept of co-optimizing computing architectures with physical environments to enhance energy efficiency and real-world intelligence at the edge

  • NPU (Neural Processing Unit) – Richard Burroughs, VP at Mobilint, demonstrated how next-generation NPU architectures are enabling high-performance, low-power on-device AI, challenging traditional GPU-centric approaches

  • LPU (Language Processing Unit) – Juntaek Oh, Compiler Engineer at HyperAccel, presented a deep dive into LPU design, optimized for accelerating large language models (LLMs) with improved efficiency and scalability

Each session was followed by active Q&A discussions, fostering in-depth technical exchange and reinforcing the forum’s role as a knowledge-sharing platform.

Driving Korea–U.S. Collaboration Through Ecosystem Engagement

The event concluded with a networking reception that brought together over 100 stakeholders from startups, venture capital, academia, and national innovation programs. The session enabled meaningful dialogue and relationship-building across both sides of the Pacific.

The forum highlighted the complementary strengths of Korea’s fabless innovation ecosystem and the United States’ leadership in AI infrastructure and platforms. It underscored the increasing importance of joint R&D, cross-border investment, and policy alignment in advancing global AI semiconductor competitiveness.

Strengthening the Global AI Semiconductor Ecosystem

Through initiatives such as the AI Silicon Race forum, K-ASIC continues to serve as a catalyst for international collaboration—bridging innovation ecosystems, facilitating knowledge exchange, and enabling Korean semiconductor companies to scale globally.
