San José, CA | May 15, 2025 — Mobilint, a portfolio company of the Korea AI & System IC Innovation Center (K-ASIC) and an emerging leader in on-device AI semiconductors, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with San José State University (SJSU) to support applied artificial intelligence research and education.
The collaboration, facilitated by K-ASIC, reflects a growing effort to connect Korea’s fabless semiconductor ecosystem with leading U.S. academic institutions. The MOU signing ceremony and networking reception marked a key milestone in strengthening academia–industry collaboration and advancing next-generation AI talent development.
Mobilint AI Accelerators to Support Academic Research
As part of the agreement, Mobilint will provide its MLA100 PCIe Cards, high-performance and energy-efficient AI accelerator modules, for use in research projects led by Professor Taehee Jung at SJSU’s Department of Applied Data Science.
Professor Jung, who brings prior experience from global semiconductor companies including AMD, will lead research initiatives focused on real-world edge AI applications, including real-time inference and efficient model deployment. The collaboration will also extend to joint development of course materials, research programs, and student theses—offering hands-on experience with advanced AI semiconductor technologies.
“This partnership represents a significant milestone in academia–industry collaboration,” said Professor Jung. “While Mobilint introduces its AI hardware to a diverse Silicon Valley talent pool, our students gain direct exposure to practical edge AI tools used in the field.”
Mobilint Accelerates U.S. Market Entry
Mobilint CEO Dongjoo Shin noted that the partnership followed SJSU’s evaluation of the company’s AI chip solutions at a recent industry event, highlighting growing interest in Mobilint’s technology.
“This MOU is more than a research collaboration—it represents Mobilint’s strategic entry into the U.S. market,” said Shin. “Through this partnership, we aim to expand our ecosystem, build customer trust, and demonstrate the real-world value of our AI semiconductor solutions in a highly competitive environment.”
K-ASIC Strengthens Cross-Border Innovation Ecosystem
K-ASIC played a central role in facilitating the agreement, reinforcing its mission to bridge Korean semiconductor startups with global partners across academia, industry, and investment.
At the signing ceremony, K-ASIC emphasized its commitment to fostering a sustainable AI semiconductor ecosystem between Korea and the United States—not only through technology deployment, but also through talent development and collaborative research.
“This partnership exemplifies how K-ASIC connects Korean innovation with global institutions,” a K-ASIC representative noted. “We will continue to support initiatives that enable Korean semiconductor technologies to contribute to the future of AI on a global scale.”
Expanding Global Academic and Industry Collaboration
Through partnerships such as this, K-ASIC continues to drive meaningful collaboration across borders, empowering Korean semiconductor companies to expand internationally while contributing to the development of future AI talent.
